A ‘hansel’ – the traditional gift given to bring good luck – is perfectly encapsulated in this concert given by an outstanding trio of collaborators. Mixing music for voice and instruments by Schubert (Auf dem Strom and other Lieder) with English song, it’s a combination of artists and music guaranteed to charm, move and entertain us – a handpicked garland of melody to decorate a special birthday. We are grateful to the musicians for the gift of this performance to support young singers through The Jean Meikle Music Trust and Britten–Pears Young Artist Programme.
