Woman’s voice journey

Dedicating the edition to the travels of the soul, it was almost obligatory to start 2021 with Winterreise, this winter trip, introspective, mysterious… and an inexhaustible source of interpretations and nuances. This, throughout 2020-21 we will approach Schubert’s cycle through several visions: the most classic, with the interpretation bartonal but young and fresh performance of Samuel Hasselhorn and the experience of Malcolm Martineau; a more innovative one, with the dramatic approach of Rafael R. Villalobos in the thesis of countertenor by Xavier Sabata and Francisco Poyato on piano; and finally that of a reference tenor such as Mark Padmore, representative of the English school, with James Baillieu on piano. This list could not miss the feminine approach to the trip, and no one better to do so than the mezzosoprano Fleur Barron, who will offer, along with the ever-romantic Julius Drake on piano, a vision with much to say about Schubert’s myth and which will not leave anyone indifferent.
