Julius Drake has been awarded the prestigious Jahrespreis of the Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik(German Record Critics’ Award) for his recent album Schubert: Poetisches Tagebuch with tenor Christoph Prégardien (Challenge Classics). Eleonore Büning, writing on behalf of the Prize committee calls Drake a “perfectionist and an adventurer of nuance.”

The German Record Critics’ Award was established in 1980 to set the, most rigorous standards for supreme achievement and quality in music recording. Each year, the 150+ members of the German Record Critics’ Award Association bestow awards on up to 15 albums nominated in 32 categories across all genre of music as well as three lifetime achievement awards.
