2024 Jean Meikle Duo Prize Winners: Clara Barbier Serrano & Joanna Kacperek

The Jean Meikle Duo Prize at the Wigmore Hall/Bollinger International Song Competition has been awarded to soprano Clara Barbier Serrano and pianist Joanna Kacperek.

About the Artists:

Clara Barbier Serrano, Soprano
French soprano Clara Barbier Serrano was a Young Artist at the Oxford International Song Festival and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées. She graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London, the Royal College of Music Opera Studio, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon. Clara has performed major roles such as First Lady, Clorinda, Queen of the Night, Cupid, and Alcina in opera houses like Opéra Comique, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, and Montpellier Opéra Orch. She has also performed internationally at festivals including LIFE Victoria Barcelona, Britten Pears Arts, and Festival Ensembles.

Joanna Kacperek, Piano
Joanna Kacperek is a multi-faceted pianist, performing both as a soloist and a collaborative pianist. She has performed in her native Poland as well as in Europe, Canada, and Japan. She is a Chopin University of Music graduate and a former Young Artist of Leeds Lieder (2021) and Oxford International Song (2022-2023) festivals. Together with her duo partner Clara Barbier Serrano, she has performed at festivals such as LIFE Victoria Barcelona, Festival de La Gente, Oxford International Song Festival, and Rhônefestival for Liedkunst.
