Julius Drake will join oboists Nicholas Daniel and Tom Owen as well as Musicians from Guildhall School of Music & Drama for a celebration of works composed for oboe. The Nicholas Daniel Oboe Day concert will take place at Wigmore Hall on 8 June at 15:00.
The programme features vital contributions to the instrument’s repertoire: André Jolivet’s Quintette avet Hautbois Principal; Pavel Haas’ Suite for oboe and piano Op. 17; and Robert Schumann’s 3 duos from 6 pieces in canonic form Op. 56, 3 Romances Op. 94 and Abendlied Op. 85 No. 12 (arr. Joseph Joachim).
