Julius Drake is nominated for Best Vocal Recording at 2020 BBC Music Magazine Awards. He shares the honour with tenor Nicky Spence, mezzo-soprano Václava Housková and clarinettist Victoria Samek for their Hyperion release, Janáček: The Diary of One Who Disappeared; Ríkadla; Moravian Folk Poetry in Songs. In the magazine’s 5 star review of the album, they note that, “Drake’s accompaniment is always alive to the operatic nuance of the work…This is a magnificent realisation of a viscerally rewarding work.”

These prestigious awards are the only classical music awards that are voted for by the people. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, 28 April live from London’s King’s Place.
